Celebratory morning teas were held at all T&T’s offices throughout New Zealand and involved employees as well as a number of distinguished guests.
Among those to attend the celebration at T&T's head office in Auckland were Don and Christine Taylor, Terry Kayes and Bill Thurston. Don Taylor is one of the two original founders while Terry Kayes was the Managing Director from 1989 to 2006. Bill Thurston is T&T’s external Chairperson.
T&T has certainly come a long way since Ralph Tonkin and Don Taylor met while working as engineers at different ends of the Auckland Harbour Bridge in 1959. From modest beginnings T&T has emerged as a leading environmental and engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for technical excellence in the Geotechnical, Civil, Environmental and Water Resource disciplines.
T&T continues to preserve much of the original vision to promote the company as a New Zealand owned and operated, specialist team of employees providing high quality consultancy services. Over time this philosophy has built a strong Tonkin & Taylor brand within the marketplace, not only in New Zealand but also throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
“Our organisational culture has developed through effective teamwork, strong work ethics, technical expertise and superior client service” said T&T’s Managing Director, Peter Millar. "I believe this solid base will provide us with the essential tools to move forward throughout 2009 and into the next 50 years!”
