The Tonkin & Taylor Group is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Dr Lester Levy as Chairperson and External Director of the Group.

Lester is the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Leadership Institute at the University of Auckland and Professor (Adjunct) of Leadership at the University of Auckland Business School. He has previously been seconded to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet as a strategic advisor and has been awarded the King’s Fund International Fellowship from the King’s Fund in London.
Lester also holds the position of Chair of Waitemata District Health Board and was previously the Chief Executive of South Auckland Health, Mercy Ascot Private Hospital Group and the New Zealand Blood Service. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management and is the author of the book “Leadership and the Whirlpool Effect”.
Over the past 15 years Lester has been a frequently invited speaker and presenter on the subject of leadership in New Zealand and overseas and his work has been published in a number of international academic journals.
Lester's appointment follows the retirement of former Chairperson and External Director, Bill Thurston, who contributed greatly to the success of the wider organisation from 2006 through to March 2010.
