He was involved in the pioneering design of long span timber nail plate trusses in commercial buildings at a time when timber was rarely used outside domestic buildings. A number of exemplar buildings were built and a new market was opened for timber as a construction material. He also contributed to the first use of plywood diaphragms for commercial and industrial buildings, work that was recognised through awards.
Ted is well regarded in the Waikato area and beyond. He has had considerable experience on industrial sites and in local government works, and has managed large multi-discipline projects from feasibility studies through design and construction to operation.
