T&T Konsult (part of the Tonkin & Taylor Group of Companies) was recently awarded the highly prestigious ‘IEM Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award for 2008’ by the Institute of Engineers – Malaysia.

The award was presented to T&T Konsult by the Deputy Prime Minister in recognition of outstanding achievement for the Planning, Design and Construction of the Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill’. In particular, the judging panel commented that the project demonstrated outstanding engineering skills, making a significant contribution to the progress of engineering and quality of life in Malaysia.
The Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill is a government privatisation project based on a build-operate and transfer proposal. Situated 50 km north of Kuala Lumpur, the site is accessed through the Bukit Tagar Interchange on the main North South Expressway. The landfill has been designed to international standards with stringent measures to protect the environment. It has a potential capacity of 120 million tonnes of waste and will serve the major popular base of Kuala Lumpur City and the Klang Valley (population: approximately 8 million).
Ir Steven Yong, Managing Director of T&T Konsult, commented that he was delighted to receive the 2008 Outstanding IEM Engineering Achievement award of behalf of T&T Konsult. “This award recognises the outstanding achievement and commitment of our team, not only at T&T Konsult, but also throughout the wider Tonkin & Taylor Group”, he said.
