The judges’ decision was unanimous on the award winning paper on contamination of soil in urban areas near air emission sources.
Adrien’s study considered the deposition of atmospheric pollutants onto soil in public parks and vegetable gardens, highlighting the significant contribution of atmospheric sources to some soil contamination. The results of that study suggest that exposure pathways other than inhalation should be considered when assessing the effect of air pollution in urban areas.
Originally from France, Adrien says he enjoys NZ’s “magnificent landscape” and all the different outdoor activities around Auckland.
He specialises in air quality assessment and modelling, environmental impact assessment and health risk studies.
