Matt Young, Civil Graduate, enjoying life at T&T!

Matt Young graduated in 2005 from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree and joined Tonkin & Taylor as a Graduate Civil Engineer!

Just like Matt did, kick start your career with T&T! Apply on-line now!

Matt's first five weeks were spent working on the Northern Gateway project as part of the Northern Gateway Alliance team in the Geotechnical Group. The project involves the construction of a section of Stage Highway 1, north of Auckland, featuring two tunnels and two eco-viaducts. Matt was involved in on-site measurements, office work and laboratory testing.

“The Northern Gateway project was a real eye opener.  It was great to be involved in such a large, unique project and was a great introduction to engineering in the real world.  Since then I’ve been based in the Auckland Civil Group and have been involved in a variety of projects, ranging from stormwater design for an airport in Jordon to pump testing on the West Coast to landfill work around Auckland.

Although I’m in the Civil Group I’ve also worked for the Environmental and Geotechnical Groups and believe one of the benefits of working for a diverse and growing consultancy is the variety of projects available and the opportunity to identify areas where I want to develop. I find T&T is very supportive in fostering young careers and prides itself on being 'the best to work for and the best to work with' (T&T’s Goal).  For me, it’s been a fantastic start to my career in engineering!” - MATT YOUNG, GRADUATE CIVIL ENGINEER, T&T.

For more information about working at T&T visit us at either the Auckland or Canterbury University Career Fairs. We'll be at the School of Engineering at Auckland Uni on 26 & 27 April and at Canterbury Uni on 10 May.

Applications run through until 21 May 2007. Apply on-line now!
