Natural Resources Engineering

Many of Tonkin & Taylor’s projects involve natural resources engineering. We are constantly designing engineering solutions using land, water, mineral and renewable energy resources, whilst minimising environmental impacts.

Our Natural Resources Engineers work on a wide range of projects in a number of roles together with our team of specialist geotechnical, water and civil engineers and environmental scientists.

Expertise

We work in a range of roles from initial concept through feasibility studies, detailed analysis, assessment of environmental effects, detailed design, project management and construction supervision. Our clients include corporate, regional and district councils, developers, contractors and other consultants both in New Zealand and overseas. As specialist consultants we tend to work on technically challenging projects which require a commitment to protect, and where possible, enhance the local environment.

Experience

Projects that have involved Natural Resources engineering inputs include:

  • Dams for water supply, irrigation, hydro, waste treatment, and flood/debris-flow detention
  • Irrigation schemes
  • Water supply systems
  • Catchment management
  • Infrastructure for wind farm developments
  • Stormwater control and treatment systems for urban areas and mines
  • River and coastal engineering for flood mitigation and erosion control
  • Sewerage and industrial effluent treatment
  • Solid and hazardous waste facility engineering.
