Gary is the Manager of Tonkin & Taylor's Wellington Group. The office has 30 staff working in geotechnical environmental and civil disciplines.

Gary is an engineering geologist with a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Engineering Geology from Canterbury University. He has 25 years experience in geotechnical consulting, the last 13 of which has been with Tonkin & Taylor Wellington. He has worked throughout New Zealand and offshore and has broad experience in slope stability hazard and risk assessment, roading, tunnelling, dam and landfill construction.

Major projects include Clyde Power Project, landslide stabilisation, landfill developments including Silverstream and Earthquake Commission investigations.
