EDCOP secondees enjoy their stay at Tonkin & Taylor!

Each year, as part of its staff development programme, Tonkin & Taylor organises a secondment programme for staff from its ‘sister’ company, EDCOP, located in the Philippines.

Earlier this year Jason Parragua, Edward Cruz, Christian Abad and Austin Verde arrived in New Zealand to work at one of T&T’s eight offices located throughout New Zealand.  The four depart New Zealand in mid-June after a six month stay in New Zealand learning from some of the most talented engineers and environmental specialists in the industry.

Jason Parragua, who worked out of T&T’s Nelson office, found the secondment experience both challenging and rewarding.  “Being in a new country always brings a lot of excitement, the new culture and people, the language and the adventure of seeing places one has never experienced it before.  I will cherish the time I have working with the Nelson team, who really looked after me and treated me as one of the family.  I learnt a great deal and my trip has been extremely worthwhile” he said.

Mr Millar, Tonkin & Taylor’s Managing Director said the secondment scheme with EDCOP is working extremely well.  “It gives young people a chance to experience life in another country, while also gaining valuable on-the-job training.  We wish Jason, Edward, Christian and Austin all the very best as they return to the Philippines.”

Later this month, two more EDCOP secondees arrive in New Zealand to experience life at T&T and, hopefully, broaden their horizons.
