Keith has extensive experience gained over the last 20 years. He has been design manager, project manager and engineer to the contract on substantial tunnelling projects and understands the construction implications of design well.
Keith was instrumental in one of the first major tunnels in Auckland in recent times (the 9.2km, 3m diameter Vector power tunnel) having managed the civil side of the project from feasibility study through preliminary design, geotechnical investigations, resource consents, detailed design, procurement and finally as Engineer to the construction contract.
Keith’s indepth knowledge of tunnel construction was actively engaged by the Northern Gateway Alliance for the twin motorway tunnels at Puhoi north of Auckland with Keith being design manager for the preliminary design and then involved in the construction management meeting and construction safety inspections as part of the construction team rather than as designer.
Keith is a Director and his responsibilities also including managing Tonkin & Taylor’s Civil Group.
