Tony has over 22 years experience in wastewater engineering including feasibility studies, issues and options reports, assessments of environmental effects, resource consent applications, providing expert evidence at resource consent hearings, design and implementation.
Tony has been responsible for a range of projects from large city treatment plants through smaller city and community systems to institutional and individual house systems. The range of treatment technologies within his experience includes pond systems, aerated lagoons, wetlands, activated sludge systems and a range of alternative suspended growth and fixed growth systems. Disposal methods include spray irrigation of effluent to forest or pasture, drip irrigation, disposal to land by rapid infiltration and disposal through piped outfalls to marine environments and rivers. Sensitivity to cultural and social concerns is paramount when developing disposal solutions and typically requires a flexible and innovative approach to develop an overall acceptable solution.
Tony has been responsible for wastewater projects throughout New Zealand as well as in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Malaysia.
