CIVIL - SOLID WASTE
Tony Kortegast

Tony has more than 25 years national and international experience in solid waste engineering. His work covers the whole range of project inputs from concept development, to public and consent processes, to detailed design and construction management.

Tony is at the forefront of solid waste engineering in New Zealand. With work experience in more than a dozen countries, he has provided specialist services to public and private sector clients as well as Asian Development Bank, World Bank, UNCHS (Habitat), UNDP, NZMfE and NZ Aid. He has authored more than 20 technical papers and lectures and is currently the convenor for the landfill Technical Working Group for WasteMINZ and is the Australasian contributor to the ISWA Landfill Working Group.

With a B.Sc (Geology), B.E. (Honours) Civil and Master of Environmental Engineering Science (UNSW), Tony is also a chartered professional engineer in New Zealand and on the international professional engineer’s register. A fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers, Tony has directed many high profile waste projects including the Redvale, Whitford, Owaranui, Kate Valley and Silverstream landfill developments. He has provided strategic advice and landfill expertise to projects in Malaysia, Vietnam, Fiji, Australia, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Tony has extensive consent and environmental court experience and is known for his industry expertise, consultation skills, design expertise and strategic thinking.
