Robin has over 14 years experience from a wide range of dams and geotechnical engineering projects throughout New Zealand, the Pacific, and in Malaysia. He has led the design and construction observation of four significant dams that have been commissioned and operational. Dam engineering poses some of the most significant challenges in civil engineering where a special combination of big picture thinking and strict attention to detail is needed and Robin has proven expertise and ability in this area and he is very highly regarded by several top international dam engineering experts with which he has contacted over the past decade.
He has been involved in some of New Zealand’s most significant recent dams and hydroelectric projects, including design and supervision of the stability enhancement works in Karapiro dam, feasibility studies for Project Aqua, and more recently consent applications for TrustPower’s Arnold and Wairau hydroelectric power schemes.
Current best practice techniques are especially important in the Dam industry and Robin regularly attends and presents at international conferences to share recent experiences with colleagues.
