We believe making a positive difference to the communities we live and work in is important. Whether it’s providing guest lecturers at engineering schools, entering teams in fund raising events or assisting other organisations, we're committed to contributing resources and expertise to the ongoing development of the communities we live and work in.

Tonkin & Taylor's association with Oxfam NZ began in 2003 through sponsorship of their ‘Water for Survival’ tramline walk held each year in West Auckland. Money raised goes towards supporting water based projects in developing Pacific countries where inadequate access to clean drinking water and sanitation affects the health and well-being of the local population.

Another way we make a positive difference is our support of Oxfam’s Fair Trade Coffee scheme. By ensuring that all our coffee is purchased through the Fair Trade market we help guarantee Third World producers a fair price for their produce whilst also helping to establish longer term, more direct trading relationships.

We have a long and strong relationship with the Engineering Schools at both Auckland and Canterbury Universities. As well as regularly providing guest lecturers we also offer a number of Scholarships and Prizes and Holiday Work programmes for students who are looking to save money for the coming year and/or who need to meet practical components towards completion of their study.

As a company our employees take part in a wide range of community events and branch offices support various charitable events in their own regions. A recent example includes sponsorship of Oxfam's Trailwalker, held in Taupo. Funds raised from the event support Oxfam's humanitarian, development and advocacy work to help lift some of the world's poorest communities out of poverty.

Our Christmas Cards are purchased through Save the Children. Money raised is used to support Save the Children's international work focussing on children's rights to health, education and protection. In recent times T&T's contribution has been used to support children and families affected by the Pakistan floods and over 550,000 children and families impacted by the Haiti earthquake.
