Don Taylor joins Ralph in partnership to establish Tonkin & Taylor, Consulting Engineers.

The client base and the partnership expand and the practice moves from Kitchener Street to new premises, designed by Ralph, at 100 Anzac Avenue, Auckland.

Ralph is part of a New Zealand Government Colombo Plan Mission to Malaysia and Indonesia, which leads to Tonkin & Taylor’s first overseas work.

Notable projects included: pavements, foundations and water supply for BHP New Zealand Steel at Glenbrook, the innovative Whau Valley Dam for Whangarei’s water supply, lower Waikato River stop banks and investigations for the Marsden Point Oil Refinery.
